OT With Brian

Well, this first leg of the trip is over, Brian is now officially on his own to enjoy the beauty of Jericoracoa by himself. I think I may see him again tomorrow but it seems appropriate to mark today as a new segment of the trip. This means that tomorrow I start classes and that means that its business time ... I got a message from Brian telling me that Jericoracoa is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world which makes me very super excited to go there...but everything in its own time.
Despite Brian's best efforts I am still alive. Every moment of this trip has been awesome,  and it promises to stay the same way. Brian and I clocked in a lot of "adventure time" which is something that I could try to explain but really the only way to know adventure time is to live it in the 1st person. I will say this, its nothing that I am not proud of and really it involves singing really stupid songs out loud while walking across foreign cities trying to find one thing or the other. Friends like Brian make traveling unforgettable and Im glad
that I will be able to share these memories with him for ever.

She Used to be the Sweetest Girl Ever

Mom, I’m still alive
While in Brazil I realized that prostitution is a real problem ... Her name is Samara, and one night I went out and met here, didn’t have any money left and she told me to go buy her a drink. I tried explaining what was going on but all she wanted to know was wheres my money at ... Th thing is I would’ve never guessed that she was working for G. Washington .... I saw her again last night and she remembered me and said hello, but she was on the clock ... all I have to say is there is a problem in the world if a girl as sweet as Samara has to work the night shift, her smile lights up the whole room ... I have a feeling that I’ll write about this again ... until next time

This one goes out to Samara ...

foi mal

it is now 605 am in rio de janeiro ...  i will never dismiss information from a friend that has lived in the place i’m asking about again ... the reason why is as follows: today Brian and I got all done up ... this means dress shoes button downs and slacks .... in other words we were looking good ... hoje foi puteria .... it did not go well. I discovered that Brazil is like every other  3rd world country. brian and i were super excited because we made it somewhere where every girl was amazing, namely Barra, but every girl was filthy rich ... this mean that if she did not already know you, she wanted nothing to do with you. It was a shame because had their boy friends not impeded the meeting it could have ended well for everyone, but I repeat what has been said ... a 3rd world country will  always be that ... if you try going to upscale places make sure you are either throwing 100s in the air like you just don't care or you know someone , neither happened tonight ... but I’ll check in again soon, hopefully with better news...

The Day I Fell In Love With Brazil

Mom, I’m alive still...
It been one day and if you didn’t read the title, let me tell you I’m in love with Brazil. Day one had every emotion associated with it: joy- My reunion with Brian was a lot easier than I thought it would be (more expensive as well, but easy none the less) happiness- I don’t remember her name, not because I am a mean but because it was loud in the club, she is french and volunteering in the favelas...
fear(this emotion gets a paragraph of its own) - So the hostel Brian was staying at was really close to Ipanema Beach and was in a pretty cool part of town but I reserved a room in another hostel. And so began this adventure... we took the metro to somewhere we thought would be close to the new hostel and after many long debates among fellow passengers we decided it would be best if we tok a taxi to this hostel. In a nutshell the taxi driver had no idea where we were going and the drive took twice as long as it should have taken. On this ride many thoughts came and went, most were along the lines of “ oh no, this is going to be bad” ... Turns out that we had been going the wrong way and the hostel is in a pretty cool area, we were able to walk back to the hostel with no problems after having lived it up in Lapa...

I would write more about Lapa which is amazing but I wont, not now maybe later ... more adventures to come fro Rio...

Day -1

Well, it's about that time, a day that I have anticipated for nearly 4 years now, is but a day away. The universe did everything in its power to try and stop this day from coming and at the same time helped me at exactly the time I needed help, so thank you universe (it had help from various sources which include but are not limited to the Brazilian Consulate  and a third party Visa Agency, although again at exactly the right moment both came through in a big way).

I will keep this short since really the only thing I am trying to do is see how this blogging thing works ... Since every time I post I will notify of my metaphysical status I will just say, I am alive with expectation today, still have a few things to do before my big travel day tomorrow, but I am alive and well and willing... until next time.

P.S. Tahnk you Petra for the idea of starting a blog, now at least you have to follow my blog.
